Nation Media Group unveils e- papers
The Nation Media Group has unveiled a portfolio of e-papers for its titles in a move aimed at increasing its readership and keeping in tandem with the current global trend that demands publishers to avail publications in a digital format. Globally 70 per cent of readers have migrated online in search of more conveniently available news.
Unlike the print version, whose circulation is limited to geographical areas where the company distributes its papers, the e-papers, online replicas of print copies are now available to readers and advertisers globally. This means that readers can access the Daily Nation, Business Daily, The EastAfrican, Taifa Leo and the latest entrant, ZuQka.com magazine, from any part of the world at a discounted rate. The digital editions save for Business Daily, will be FREE until February 15, 2009.
Readers will therefore be required to subscribe for their e-paper of choice and make payments either by cash or credit cards. Plans are also in the pipeline for subscribers to use the mobile money transfer, M-Pesa, to make the payments. The e- paper also serves the visually impaired who will be able to access information through a radio link, upon hitting the play button that will set off the computer to automatically read out the selected story.
The e-papers can be accessed from the following addresses:
Daily Nation- http://dn.nationmedia.com
The East African- http://ea.nationmedia.com
Taifa Leo- http://tf.nationmedia.com
