Revamped NTV to turn on your world in style

Kenyans will be in for a major treat starting Monday as NTV, a Nation Media Group television, unveils a revamped and new-look station complete with fresh faces.

The new-look NTV will see viewers enjoy a cocktail of new programmes including fresh local shows and drama, in addition to news and current affairs, that resonate well with the feedback from the listeners and viewers.

Nation Media Group CEO Stephen Gitagama has said true to its tagline “Turning on your world”, NTV is set to do just that to its customers through its revamped station, which will offer the viewers an experience never seen before in the country.

NEW SHOWS

This, he said, will be achieved by a team of new and some never seen before anchors who are set to light up the screens.

“We expect that the new line up of programmes and the news anchors that we will have will transform and keep our viewers glued to NTV. I can promise viewers we will inform, entertain, and educate you as the quality of programmes we have are relevant,” said Mr Gitagama.

Some of the new shows that viewers will be able to sample include Mafundi, a hilarious comedy that looks at the everyday life of blue-collar workers in Nairobi, their clients and families as they try to make ends meet; The Trap HouseIn House, an African inspired music TV show series showcasing the lives of artists; and Being Bahati, a show that takes an intimate look into musician Bahati’s life.

VIEWERS FEEDBACK

Old shows like The Trend,Property Show and Teen Republic have been revamped with the sole purpose of meeting viewers’ needs for more local shows and entertainment.

Mr Gitagama said the changes were necessitated by the feedback obtained from the company’s engagement with their customers during the World Cup season where he station televised 32 matches free of charge.

“Television watching is about the experience we create. We are going to create an experience that has not been seen before in this country. We promise to continue listening to our viewers and responding to their needs,” he said.

The new faces include former Capital FM news presenter Olive Burrows, Zainab Ismail and former K24 news anchor Jamila Mbugua who will present the Property Show.

Former Citizen TV’s Swaleh Salim, Doreen Majala, formerly of Ebru TV, Nuru Abdulaziz, and former KBC anchor Kaltun Jama will boost the Swahili news bulletin.
