NATION SCOOPS TOP EXHIBITOR AWARD DURING ANNUAL CONFERENCE

Nation Media Group recently scooped the best exhibitor award during the annual Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK) awards held at the Fort Jesus on November 26 after emerging tops in the Best Exhibitor category beating over five equally competitive organizations all competing for the top prize.

The media company was recognized for staying true to its aspiration of emerging as the media of Africa for Africa which was in line with the African Public Relations Association’s (APRA) theme of “PR In a Regulated Environment”  during the annual conference in Mombasa from November 23 to 26.

Over 100 delegates all hailing from more than 15 countries in Africa, Europe and the US attended the APRA 2011 conference  held at the Mombasa Continental Resort.

Countries represented included Uganda, Tanzania, Nigeria, Sierra-Leon, Mozambique, Botswana, Rwanda, Gambia, Ghana, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, The Republic of Ireland, United States of America and the host Kenya.

Following further deliberations on the topics discussed in relation to the conference theme, it was agreed that APRA would promote an environment of ethical responsibility and professionalism with a view to strengthen Public Relations in the African continent, open up and encourage channels of honest and free flowing communication based on the freedom of information scenery, encourage country associations and institutes to be committed to enhancing behaviour consistent with ethical rules and commitments in line with the APRA code of ethics, support countries that do not have Public Relations associations or institutes to establish such associations/institutes in addition to encouraging a self-regulatory mechanism for the Public Relations profession as self-regulation requires an immense deal of self discipline and honesty.

Furthermore, APRA resolved to continue exploring ways of enhancing the image of Africa both at the continental and global platforms hence seeking partnerships with institutes as well as professionals in Europe, US and other areas where such partnerships will be deemed to have value and impact.
