Mr. Stephen Gitagama holds an MBA and a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) from the University of Nairobi and is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya. He is the Group Chief Executive Officer and was appointed to the Board in March 2008. He previously worked as a Finance Director with East African Breweries Limited. Mr. Gitagama is an executive director and is a director of the Group’s Subsidiary Companies and is a member of the Strategy and Investments, the Nominations and Governance and the Editorial Committees.

Mr. Richard Tobiko holds an MBA from Warwick Business School, University of Warwick (UK) and a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting Option) degree from the University of Nairobi. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA - K) and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK). He has previously worked with several local, regional and global organisations in the manufacturing and services sector; most notably KETRACO where he was General Manager, Finance and Strategy and General Electric (GE) as Centre leader in charge of Sub Sahara Africa business services hub. He was appointed Group Finance Director in October 2018 and joined the Board as an Executive Director on 1 March 2019.

Monicah Waceke Ndung’u, is the Chief Operating Officer at Nation Media Group. Prior to joining NMG, she was the General Manager for Kwese Free TV Kenya Limited. She has worked with Kenya Broadcasting Corporation and Uganda Broadcasting Corporation in programming partnership building, change management and product development. Monicah is a Chevening Scholar, a holder of an MA degree in Communication from The University of Westminster (UK) and Bachelor of Arts in Communication (Electronic Media) Daystar University and other media related professional certifications.

Joseph is a talented journalist, media manager and debate moderator, with wide experience spanning more than 24 years. He has covered major local and international news events and presided over the coverage of four General Elections and two national referenda in Kenya. He has played critical roles in Kenya’s presidential debates including co-moderating three of them. He has previously worked at Royal Media Services as Editorial Director, the Standard Group as Managing Editor (KTN News) and the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) as a Senior Reporter. He is a PhD candidate in Communication at Daystar University and holds an MSc (Environmental Governance) from the University of Manchester, a Bachelor of Agribusiness Management from Egerton University, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Mass Communication from the University of Nairobi, and an Advanced Certificate in Environmental Diplomacy from the University of Geneva, Switzerland.

Glencross had his formation in South Africa. He holds an MBA from the University of Heriot-Watt (Edinburgh Business School) and a diploma in strategic management from the Stellenbosch Business School, and has also pursued vocational courses in sales, professional learning, and personnel management. Glencross worked in various management roles in media in South Africa, before coming to Uganda in 2003. He joined Monitor Publications limited in February 2015 and was promoted to Country MD for Nation Media Uganda in 2018. Glencross was also instrumental in setting up the Uganda Media Owners Association (UMOA) and served as Chairman for three years, until June 2014. Mr. Glencross describes himself as “a person of high integrity who values principle and stands by them; a leader who innovates and makes decisions, leading from the front and prepared to get his hands dirty, but also focussed on strategically on company growth”.

Kenneth joined NMG from Jumia Limited, where he served in a similar capacity. He has a wealth of industry experience, having held senior leadership positions at the Industrial Promotion Services (IPS), Multichoice, Nokia, Microsoft and Unilever. He is a seasoned profession with experience in business strategy, commercial, brand management, product marketing, business development and E-commerce. Kenneth holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Nairobi and is pursuing an Executive MBA at the London Business School.

Jane holds an MBA in Strategic Management from the University of Nairobi and is a member of the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM). Prior to this role, she served as the Senior HR Manager responsible for the Editorial, Advertising and Production departments at NMG. She previously worked for Nestlé Kenya Limited as HR Business Partner, East Africa Cluster. She is a Prosci Change Management practitioner through Cedar Africa Group, a Certified Executive Leadership Coach through CDI-Africa Coaching Group, and an Adjunct Coach at Strathmore University Business School.

Rachel Wanyoike has extensive experience in audit, financial management, risk and compliance having worked with several local and global organizations in financial and insurance sectors such as Kenindia Assurance Company where she was Head of Risk Management and Compliance; Old Mutual Kenya as Group Finance Manager-Operations; Insurance Company of East Africa as Head of Risk Management and Compliance and Ernst and Young/Consultant in the capacity of Audit Senior/Consultant. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree, marketing option from University of Nairobi, Executive Management Program in Leadership and Performance Management from Strathmore Business School. She is a Certified Public Accountant-Kenya (CPA-K) and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA). She is also trained as an ISO Lead Auditor.

Mr. Clifford Machoka joined NMG in January 2016 from British American Tobacco where he served in several senior roles in corporate and regulatory affairs responsible for various countries including Indian Ocean Islands (Mauritius, La Reunion, Comoros), Rwanda, Uganda, Horn of Africa (Ethiopia, Somali/Somali Land, Eritrea, South Sudan and Djibouti) and Kenya. He has experience in trade bloc management with emphasis on WTO, EAC, COMESA & AU, regulatory affairs management including general and tax policy formulation, corporate communications, media, reputation and stakeholder management. Clifford is a lawyer by training, has an LLM, Globalization and Law (International Law) from Maastricht University, Netherlands and B.A, LL.B (Hons) degree from NALSAR University of Law, India.
