The Nation Media Group (NMG) established a foundation to accelerate its contribution and upscale initiatives towards attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals. Dubbed the Nation Media Foundation (NMF), the foundation is the organisation’s social impact arm and will steer the Group’s focus on positively influencing the society, even as its brand portfolio within the region, widens.
Through strategic partnerships with like-minded organisations, NMF will therefore, institutionalise NMG’s efforts into consistent, deliberate, and targeted interventions that will have a wider reach and bring about sustainable transformation.
The foundation will serve as the nexus between business and development, identifying and expanding the connections between socio-environmental and economic progress.

The Foundation’s flagship pillar, Education and Literacy, is strongly aligned to Nation Media Group’s mission to create value for our stakeholders and positively influence society by providing media that informs, educates, and entertains.
The Foundation will help increase the literacy levels of 5 million young Kenyans in the next five years through access to books and other reading materials in 141 libraries across the country. Preparations are underway for the construction of the first library, which will kick off in the next few weeks in Ngong Town. In the interest of sustainability, the facility will use renewable energy and also feature a water recycling system. Following completion, the Foundation will hold a launch, which will also serve as the grand opening of the Ngong library pilot project.
In addition to the facility, robust programs will be run where kids and young students will engage in reading symposiums, literacy workshops, book festivals and other exciting programs. Members of the Nation Media Group staff are warmly invited to participate in any way possible to contribute their time, talents and ideas to this cause.
