NMG donates textbooks to Nakuru Workers Primary School

Pupils at Nakuru Workers Primary School received learning materials and mobility devices from the Nation Media Group and its partners.  The media company, in partnership with other organisations,  donated textbooks, wheel chairs, masks, pens, shoes and balls to the school. The corporates included Bata Shoe Company, which provided school shoes for each pupil, Giants Group of Nairobi Twiga, Shree Vanik Vaishnav Mahajan, represented by philanthropist Rani Ramchamdani who presented three wheelchairs to the special needs unit, as well as text books, sanitary towels and masks for the students. Seedballs Limited also partnered with NMG on the activity through their donation of seeds to be used at the school nursery.

Nakuru Workers Primary School, started in September 2004 by a community of Nakuru workers, has grown from 14 students learning in mud walled classrooms to a population of 1,840 learners between Grade 1 to Class 8. The school aims to provide quality education for all.

The NMG team, led by the Nakuru Regional Editor, Stella Cherono, indicated that education is a core part of the company’s mandate and as such schools remain a key constituent of the its sustainability efforts.
