On 28th and 29th April 2026, NMG co-hosted the Kenya Mining Investment Conference and Expo 2026 together with the Ministry of Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs. The conference and expo brought together leaders, investors, policymakers, financiers, and industry practitioners, with the President of the Republic of Kenya, Dr. William Ruto, serving as the keynote speaker.

Deliberations at the conference made it clear that Kenya is moving away from the long-standing practice of extracting and exporting raw minerals, and is instead adopting a new policy direction that prioritises local processing, value addition, and the development of integrated industrial value chains.

Our partnership with the Ministry of Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs was centred on enhancing the visibility of Kenya’s mining sector through coordinated media coverage, stakeholder engagement, and public communication initiatives aimed at attracting both local and international investment.

Speaking during the event, our Group MD & CEO, Geoffrey Odundo, reiterated our role in shaping public understanding of development and sustainability.

“Our role is to positively influence society,” he said, adding that responsible reporting must also highlight the environmental challenges associated with industrial expansion.
